Hello, and thank you for taking time to find out more about me and the service that I offer. I have always had an interest in people and psychology and when I went through a painful separation and divorce I found counselling invaluable for getting through this difficult and challenging time and I wanted to be able to provide similar support to others.
In addition when my children were going through school and were identified as having dyslexia and dyspraxia, I was encouraged to share my experiences to coach other young adults and parents going through this challenge.
As a result I have qualified as a Neuro Linguistic Practitioner, Cognitive Behavioural Coach for improving Confidence, and completed a Foundation Degree in Humanistic Counselling from Middlesex University which is accredited by the BACP. This means that I work within the Ethical framework defined by the BACP.
As a humanistic counsellor I focus on you as an individual, and support you in developing your self awareness around your thoughts, feelings and behaviours in your life, identifying any unhelpful patterns that may have developed which create a feeling of ‘stuckness’. I work relationally, co-creating a therapeutic relationship with you, which enables us to explore any issues you may be experiencing and to identify how you may bring about changes you want to see in your life. By working this way, we can explore your role in relationships, helping you to understand how this may be impacting your thoughts and feelings towards yourself and others.
I have trained in Transactional Analysis, which offers practical tools and ways to make sense of our experience in life, and the relationships within it. This helps to increase self-awareness about the influences that shape the way you may view the world and interact with others. This raised self-awareness may help to increase your understanding of what may be causing some of the issues you may be struggling with as well as supporting you in making empowering changes to your life.
I work with adult clients and have a particular interest in working with clients who are experiencing challenges in their relationships, transition stages of life - separation, divorce, starting a new relationship. I also work with young adults who are experiencing bullying or difficulties in settling into learning at school or university.
