There are many different types of counselling and coaching available and each therapist will have their own unique style and approach. It is important to find a therapist who you feel totally safe and comfortable with, as this creates the trustful space where counselling and coaching is most effective.

I offer an initial 15 minute telephone session which is free of charge, to answer any questions you may have and to give you the opportunity to experience a little of who I am and how I work. From there you may decide whether you would like to go ahead and book a session with me.

The client - counsellor relationship is at the heart of counselling, and so we will take time to create a safe and secure space to support you during our time together.

Person centred, Humanistic Counselling

I will work with you to create a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions freely.

One of the key principles of the person-centred approach is empathy. I will make every effort to understand your perspective, and to see and feel the world through your eyes. This will help to create a therapeutic relationship based on trust and mutual respect, where you feel heard and your feelings validated.

Another important aspect of this approach is unconditional positive regard. This means that I accept you for who you are, without judgment. You have the freedom to express yourself and explore your thoughts and feelings.

Ultimately, the humanistic and person-centred approach is about empowering you to take control of your life, and to make the changes that you want. I will be there to support you on this journey, but the direction of your therapy will be guided by your own unique needs and goals.

Integrative

Integrative counselling is all about creating a therapy experience that's unique to you. By drawing on a range of different techniques and theories, I can tailor your therapy to your specific needs and preferences. This means that we have the flexibility to explore different approaches and find what works best for you. My focus as your therapist is to provide you with a holistic and personalised therapy experience that helps you achieve your goals.

Walk and Talk

Walk and talk therapy is where we conduct our session while walking outdoors in a natural setting. It offers a refreshing change from traditional face to face counselling, and can have some unique benefits.

One of the key benefits is that it can help to reduce feelings of anxiety and stress. Being outside in nature has been shown to have a calming effect on the mind and body, which can help to make you feel more relaxed and at ease during your session. Additionally, the gentle exercise and fresh air can have a positive impact on your overall well being.

Another advantage is that it can facilitate more open and spontaneous conversation. Walking side by side with me can feel less formal and intimidating than sitting in a traditional therapy setting, which can help to create a more relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. This can lead to more productive and effective therapy sessions.
